Congratulations on your decision to attend Furman!
When you arrive here, you’ll begin to take advantage of our challenging academic programs, beautiful campus and outstanding faculty. But before that happens, we’d like to get you ready for the first day of class. From registering for summer orientation to completing required tasks for incoming students, this site will help you prepare for your first semester at Furman.
New@FU Portal
New@FU is Furman’s interactive online platform designed to assist with your transition to college. There are seven sections that will introduce you to various aspects of life at Furman, highlight support services and resources available to you, and outline expectations of all Furman students. The platform is designed for you to navigate at your own pace. In total, it will take about 1-2 hours to complete, but does not need to be completed in one sitting. A lot of information is covered, so you may refer back to the platform as often as needed.
The final section of New@FU is the “Next Steps” section and includes a checklist of tasks that you are required to complete. These tasks include completing the New Student Survey and other academic tasks, completing your Housing Lifestyle form, and submitting your medical and immunization records. You must navigate through the first six sections of the platform before you can access the checklist and instructions for completing these mandatory tasks.
A few tips to get you started:
- You will navigate through the sections sequentially, but once you’ve completed a section you can always come back to the information. If you click the “menu” icon on the top right of your screen once logged in, you’ll see a table of contents which outlines everything covered in the program. You can see which sections you’ve completed and which are still locked, meaning they need to be completed.
- As you go, you’ll notice that most pages include an “i” button – if there is a topic you would like to learn more about, click the “i” button. Once you finish the program, you’ll have a list of saved links that you can reference. These links will take you to additional information about those topics on the Furman website.
- At any time you can click the Furman Belltower icon on the top left of your screen to return to the main page.
- If you click the “Discovery Tools” icon on the top right of your screen, you can navigate to a list of FAQs and submit any questions you might have, as well.
Students can access New@FU using the “Student Login” button once you’ve received your Furman network credentials.
All students who fully navigate through all seven sections by June 1 will have a chance to win some great Furman prizes!
If you have trouble accessing New@FU or have questions about the platform, please e-mail us at orientation@furman.edu.
